Delta Dental of Oklahoma Foundation announced its 2019 Delta Dental Scholarship Fund and Research Project Stipend recipients at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry.
Scholarships and stipends are awarded to dentistry students who have demonstrated academic excellence, as well as a commitment to their communities.
Our 2019 scholarship recipients are: Sam Austin of Tulsa, Austin Brasher of Edmond, Meridith Tinnin of Tulsa, Meagan Green of Ponca City, Nancy Ha of Muskogee, Brittany Hand of Altus, Christopher Hunt of Jones, Jordan Pierce of Ardmore, Tayler Schartz of Edmond and Brace Unruh of Sedan, Kansas. Each of the 10 scholarship recipients received $5,000.
“Ensuring our state has quality dental providers is just one way our organization fulfills its not-for-profit mission to advance the oral wellness of all Oklahomans,” said John Gladden, president and CEO of Delta Dental of Oklahoma.
“Delta Dental of Oklahoma and its Foundation support dental clinics and events that equip our students with the necessary skills needed to help them reach their goals of becoming dental professionals,” said OU College of Dentistry Dean Raymond A. Cohlmia, D.D.S. “Through their support, Delta Dental of Oklahoma reconfirms our commitment to putting the patients’ needs first, which improves the education of today’s students, for tomorrow’s professionals.”
Two (2) students, Kaylin Listen of El Reno and Matt Nguyen of Moore, were also awarded stipends for research projects. Kaylin and Matt will present their research projects at OU College of Dentistry Scientific Day in spring 2020.
Since the Foundation began its scholarship program in 2001, more than $840,000 to OU College of Dentistry students who plan to practice within the state after graduation. Delta Dental of Oklahoma has contributed more than $23 million through the Foundation to help provide greater access to oral health care and education to all citizens of Oklahoma.
